Anyone else notice our No. 1 Nordic ski podcast, Skirious Problems, is now ‘partially supported’ by FIS?
How’s that going to work?
I think what makes Mika and James so fascinating to so many people is their unadulterated takes from an elite, insider perspective, no? So, when will FIS say, “Ah, don’t talk about that — thank you.”
I decided to tune into their interview with Jasmi Joensuu this morning — an athlete we’d scheduled to chat with before Ruka but had to cancel last minute — and, to their credit, Mika dropped an F-bomb within the first couple minutes. I wonder if part of the agreement from his end was to stay true to his authentic, thoughts-on-the-sleeve style, no matter what.
We’ll see.
Either way, James and Mika have really grown their podcast recently, which I think is probably good for the sport. They’ve professionalized every aspect and really leveraged the different platforms to spiral their growth. Maybe that’s why they got the attention of FIS in the first place.
Maybe that’s why it’s better to just stay put as the fourth-fastest and largest growing Nordic ski-specific podcast in all of Lake County?
