Welcome to the first edition of ‘SederSkier ScamperCamper Stories,’ the ultra-personal bloggy corner of the website. Formerly known as ‘SederSkierSprinter Stories,’ this where I post my ‘training camp’ blogs…which often double as family camping trips.

I’m sure you’re thrilled to become the beneficiary of my wandering thoughts, random details and utterly hopeless photography. It’s kind of like Noah Hoffman’s blog — minus the talent and/or plus two kids, a wife and a dog.

Speaking of Hoffman, three long years of hunting for a camper on Facebook marketplace led our family to the former Seder-Skier Podcast guest’s (you know, obviously the most noteworthy moment of his career!!!) birthplace, Evergreen, Colorado this summer. There we had a wonderful family pass off to us their beloved treasure: a beautifully restored, 1994 16-foot Scamp. In the two months since, we’ve gone on a couple 3-4 day trips, including one with my parents.

I’ve also learned to back up with a trailer decently well, perfected the winterization process and built a carport (with a LOT of help from my dad….of course) for storage — tasks that make me feel infinitely more manly than squeezing into a lyrca suit to double-pole 50-kilometers on skinny skis.

Suffice it to say, we’re really looking forward to taking more trips. But before we ..

  1. Disperse camp near SoHo in order to get a week of on-site exclusive US Ski Team interviews
  2. Winter camp in the free lot in Aspen before DPing up Indy Pass
  3. Go to Moab to satisfy our shoulder season dirt cravings
  4. Hit up Bend, Oregon for some sick XC skiing in June
  5. Bike across Colorado, MN, the Oregon coast…. and the entire US
  6. Drive to the northernmost road in North America, fending off Grizzlies and feeding off wild salmon
  7. Go back to Maine to see the fall foliage
  8. Hideout at the top of Mt. Blue Sky for 2 weeks for some serious RBC synthesis
  9. Stay in the legendary Evergreen Walmart lot before VeloSwap
  10. Spend an entire season homeschooling our kids while camping EVERYWHERE (literally, everywhere)!!!!

I probably need to figure out how to start the propane heater. Anyway, before I get distracted with my dreams, let’s get back to reality and wrap up the first of two adventures we have actually gone on….
