Men’s race

Diversity takes a hit (Loser Index: 7.2 out of 10)

Norway dominated the men’s 10k interval start, taking 10 of the first 13 places — even without Johannes H. Klaebo, who sat out because of illness for the second-straight race. Our guy Friedrich Moch was the first non-Norwegian. The German raced evenly, finishing 40.1 seconds back in seventh. Austrian Mika Vermeulen was the other fly in the hosts’ ointment, breaking up the Norwegian stronghold with his eighth-place showing. The Seder-Skier Podcast guest — who is more known for his own podcast — wasn’t satisfied with the day, though.

“The race was a bit worse than my last two skating competitions and I just had a mediocre day today,” the 25-year-old told xc-ski.de. “In difficult conditions against such an incredibly strong Norwegian team, who obviously had rockets under their feet today, it is just tough, but they definitely deserve it.”
