Team Seder-Skier.com is still looking to raise funds and recruit athletes so the Leadville-based squad can become the first American team to join the circuit. Manager and lead athlete, Ryan Sederquist has been training ferociously as of late, though a fever in mid-November knocked out a week and a half of his planned high-altitude camp.

“I think I lost some of the fall fitness I gained from climbing mountains,” the 33-year-old double-pole specialist lamented. “But, thanks to Leadville’s great gro——…thanks to Leadville’s ok groo———..thanks to Leadville’s regu——— …thanks to Lake County neglecting to plow the roads, I was able to get in a few sessions over that Thanksgiving blizzard.”

Lake County crews work to clear roads five days after a three day blizzard pounded Leadville with 30 inches of snow.

Sederquist’s wife, Christie, said she is still supporting Team Seder-Skier “emotionally and financially” and would like to see the squad compete in Europe at some point.

“Maybe this is the winter, I don’t really know,” the mother of two said in a translation from Norwegian to English. “He better do it soon. These ski dreams are becoming fatiguing. He might be sick in the head.”

Ski Classics teams are required to have at least three female and three male athletes registered in at least five events. Christie Sederquist said if she needed to step into the 90k Vasaloppet as the team’s final female athlete, she would be willing. Her most recent ski race experience are a pair of 10k freestyles at the Alley Loop in Crested Butte and the highly-competitive and extremely large Leadville Loppet field.

“But I’ve logged 100 hours of training per month since June,” the Wrenshall High School hall-of-famer stated. “I think I’ll have no problem with the distance.”

When news of Sederquists’ absurd training hours reached Therese Johaug — who was coming into a remote Lillehammer lodge after a 3.5 hour ski — the Norwegian legend reportedly turned around and went back out for another 65k.

Team trainer Ajee Sederquist — who doubles as the sqaud’s social media manager and chief wax tech — has been experimenting with new glide waxes, consisting of various organic compounds like goose poop, deer gut grease and skunk skin.

“Bark,” she said before adding that the waxes have worked terribly in recent tests on Turquoise Lake.

“Yeah, I don’t know if we’ll keep Ajee on the staff much longer,” Ryan Sederquist said. “She does keep me safe from the bull moose who frequents Tennessee Pass late at night, though.”

Currently, there is no agreement between Shovel Lake Public Radio and Ski Classics for a radio play-by-play broadcast.
